2/25/2010 -Catch lights

Busy day!  It is almost 10:00 and the oldest and I are getting home from Cinderella practice.  Made her lie on the floor really quick to take my 365 shot.

Welcome to the world Baby H!

Is this the sweetest little guy?  He was all of 5 days old.  I actually used my little space heater and we (the adults) were cooking but baby H just slept like a champ.  He actually slept a little too well, as it would have been nice to get a couple with his little eyes open.  I still kind of struggle with a touch of performance anxiety where I tend to forget all of the ideas I wanted to try.

2/24/2010 Catch lights

I decided I needed to start trying to replicate some of the light setups I learned at my workshop last month.  This one is called clamshell lighting.  It provides a nicely lit face but I am not overly crazy about the catch lights.  This is my not so little girl!

2/23/10 Catch Lights

I was so hoping to get some great catch lights with the newborn pictures I took today, but he was such a great sleeper that he never opened his eyes.  This is the uncooperative little girl who is getting closer and closer to being 2 (in every sense of the word) each day.

Little Man!

Check out this adorable little man!  He was so perfect!  He slept so well we missed out on getting any shots with his eyes open.  As always, as I am going through the pictures I am wishing that I would have done more and different things with him.  This is just a teaser though.  My pregnant belly (and back) is not going to let me sit at the computer for much longer.  Watch for more in the next couple of days!

2/19/10 Redone!

I had to try the coffee (tea) splash picture again!  My 13 year old was eager to help me.  I am not sure if it was the ability to eat the soggy cookies or just the fun in making such a mess that enticed her.  We had a little better results with the natural light coming through the window.

2/22/10 Catch Lights

This one isn't overly creative or inspiring, but it allowed me to check something off my to do list.  I lugged the camera up to the park for our little picnic lunch only to realize that I hadn't stuck the memory card back in.

2/21/10- Catch Lights

This weeks new theme:  Catch Lights.

defined by Wikipedia- Catch light or catchlight is a photography term used to describe either the specular highlight in a subject's eye from a light source, or the light source itself.

I tried to be a bit creative and use a recognizeble website as a catchlight.  Wasn't as successful as I would like, but oh well.

2/20/10 Last Day for Words...

Today is the last day for Words.  I thought that words would be more fun than it was.  I wasn't as creative as I thought I would be.  Such is life.

2/19/10- Words

I did take pictures yesterday, they just didn't have anything to do with the theme.

Today's picture was inspired by a pool on Flickr.  My first attempt is pretty unsuccessful, but it was already dark and to do a better job I need more light.  I might try again tomorrow.  Here is today's version.

Already Behind.... 2/17/10 Words

We had a busy week.  A bunch of us painted a mural at the church.  I would post a picture of it, but my camera batteries were dead, so it will have to wait until Sunday.

My word picture from Monday...  The containers we kept the paint in.

Playing with the light

What are you going to do when your kids are home from school, it is a beautiful day, but the little ones are napping.  Take pictures of course!  I decided to experiment with a halo-like back light kind of look.  The source of light for these was direct sunlight coming through our patio door being diffused by a white sheet.  On the first image the window was to her left, in the other pictures, the window was directly behind her.  I also used a reflector in front of her.

My not very creative shot of Words today...  Just one more thing on my list of things to do.

Starting Back Up on the 365 Project

For a while last year I participated in a 365 thread in one of the forums that I am active in.  Then, as always, life got in the way and I stopped participating.  I am quite positive life is going to get in the way again (hello baby), but I am going to try and stick with this.  It might not be every day, but hopefully it will be more days than not.  The themes are picked for a week on the forum.  This week was "Shoot from the Hip" meaning that you take the pictue without looking through the viewfinder.  Anyway- My picture for today.

Cake Smash!!!

Little Miss B is about to celebrate her first birthday!  She came over and we did some cake smash pictures.  She was much more into destroying the cake and smearing it into the ground than she was into eating it.  She is going to be quite the little artist!

Miss B is usually one of the most smily little girls until I get out my camera.

The Pregnant Belly

For all of you in Texas who have been requesting a shot of my giant belly...  This is for you.  It was quite the task to try and get a self portrait, especially when I seem to have lost my attachment for my tripod and I don't have a remote, only a self timer. It was my first try with this type of lighting.   Already I see some tweaks I would make, but I am tired of running back and forth to the camera on my knees.   Anyway...  meet the belly.

Baby E (Cpovington Area Newborn Photographer)

Here are some pictures of Baby E.  Don't you just love all that hair?  She was such a sweet angel.  We would have had a lot more gorgeous pictures of her if we could have just gotten her into a little deeper sleep.  I think the error there, though, was my own impatience.  She is the first child and grandchild so the sweet girl is completely showered with love and attention.  I so enjoyed getting to snuggle with her and take her pictures!
