Newborn Pictures...

This is my friend's little girl. She is so sweet!

What I learned- I definately should have taken off the diaper for some nakey baby pics. The diaper tends to be distracting in some of the pictures. I should have take more of her on the white blankets... possible with out the strobes and instead a bounced flash. I think that Ishould have had more soft images. No pregnant friends, so I don't know when I will get my next chance for newborn pictures.

Today was a snow day. Our school district is so wimpy. The kids stayed home but it did give me a chance to try out a set up I had been wanting to try. We took one of the living room chairs out into the front yard and took pictures in the snow.

What I learned... I needed to have it further out from the bushes. I didn't like it when I got little bits of bushes in my pictures...but it was okay when I got lots of bushes in the pictures... and the girls really didn't like looking up at me when I was on the ladder. Although the sun was completely hidden and behind them. the sky was too bright. I still really need to slow down to perfect the picture before I take it. Oh the other thing was that we messed up the snow in front of the chair....I wishI could figure out a way to get them to the chair without walking in the snow.... I think that this would be a fun annual picture, that is until we move back to Texas. Ooohhhh, but wouldn't the chair look great in the bluebonnets?

The little guys stayed inside....

The Favorite Sweater...

My friend has this wonderful tradition. She has had her son photographed in this particular sweater of her husband's every year since his first birthday. This year I was lucky enough to take the pictures! I think that it is a very cute tradition.

What I learned... I really need to slow down. When working with anyone other than my own kids, I tend to feel rushed. I think that I am intimidated by the expectations. I have always just taken more pictures. I realize now that I need to be slower, get the subject in position and focus on taking better pictures rather than just taking an abundance of pictures.
On this picture... I had this great idea in my head. He would hold out 7 fingers (he just had his 7th birthday) and his fingers would be in focus with his face out of focus. I am not happy with the results, but I still think it could be a cool idea for a picture, I just need to figure it out.

More Samish Island...

Hmmm.... It only let me post 5 pictures. I am sure there is probably a way around that but I haven't figured it out. I had 8 pictures, so here are the other three.

Samish Island

This weekend I was invited to a scrapbook/craft weekend at a friend's beach house. Although I realized long ago that scrapbooking was outside of my skill set, I went with an arm load of books and my camera. I got to sleep in and laze around and wander around the beach taking pictures. Here are some of my pictures...

MOSS!!!

I am really starting to become obsessed with moss. It is okay though, because it is so very prevalent here. Anyway, the current challenge is a picture within a picture. So I sarted out with this tree and then I just got distracted by the MOSS! If I had a macro lens then I bet I could get even BETTER pictures of the moss.... hmmmm.

Grrrr....... I am trying to do something different- learn new things and such. I was trying to post the pictures from my photobucket account rather than my computer, but alas I have failed. I think I need to wait until I have more patience and better bandwidth to accomplish that task.

Games People Play

Last weeks theme on the forum I am using as my "class" was games people play.... Here were my posted pictures. This week's is "Tools of the Trade"... Hmmm... I am going to have to think on that one.

I am editing pictures for E's science fair project. We spent a good portion of Saturday afternoon playing with dry ice. This was just a soap bubble but it was kinda a cool picture...

Rainbow...

We get very excited about the little rainbows that appear on the floor when the sun comes through our window and shines through the light fixture. Here is a picture of the baby with rainbow on her head.... hmmm but maybe after I played with it, you can't really see the rainbow anymore.

Just a little post...

The girls didn't really cooperate with me taking their pictures today. The just wanted to play! Go figure... Anyway I really liked having the sun at their back and the nice highlights it made on their hair, or...errrr.... hood.

And she naps.... sometimes...

I went upstairs to put away laundry and found my girl asleep. She looked so sweet in her sister's old dance costume that I couldn't help but take a picture....
We've been pretty busy... I am not sure what we've been doing, but the days have flown by and I haven't taken too many pictures. Saturday we played with dry ice for Science fair and I took lots of pictures, but I haven't gotten a chance to play with them... and they are mostly boring pictures for Em's board.
